GUBA Foundation at Voices for Autism Charity’s Autism Awareness Day

The GUBA Foundation represented by Nana Konadu-Aboagye was at the Voices for Autism Charity’s ‘Autism Awareness Community Day’ as part of our ‘Autism I am Not a Stigma’ project on the 8th April 2025 in London. The event was not only enlightening but also deeply inspiring, as it provided a unique platform to engage with various charitable organizations that are dedicated to supporting individuals with autism and their families.

During the event, it was incredibly encouraging to meet representatives from different charity organizations, each bringing their own personal experiences and insights regarding autism. Their commitment to serving the community was evident, and it was heartening to witness so many organizations striving to meet the needs of Special Educational Needs (SEN) parents. The camaraderie and shared purpose among attendees underscored the collective effort to create a more inclusive environment for families affected by autism.

However, it was somewhat disheartening to hear a recurring theme from several organizations regarding the unexpectedly low attendance at their events, despite their genuine efforts to provide support to families who have expressed a need for assistance. This raises an important question that deserves our attention: What specific actions would SEN parents like organizations to take in order to better support them? Understanding their needs and expectations is crucial for us to make meaningful strides in our outreach and support initiatives.

As we continue to develop our programs and services, we are eager to hear the thoughts and opinions of SEN parents. Your feedback is invaluable to us, and we genuinely want to know how we can help you more effectively. Together, we can work towards fostering a more supportive community that truly addresses the needs of families navigating the challenges associated with autism. Let us collaborate to make a difference and provide the support that is so desperately needed.
