Creating an Inclusive Church Community: Webinar Recap

On Friday, February 6th, we hosted a comprehensive webinar training session designed to empower Sunday school volunteers and teachers with effective strategies for supporting autistic children in church settings. The session, led by our SENCO- Nana Adwoa, brought together a passionate group of individuals dedicated to fostering inclusivity and understanding for every individual.

The training explored the unique challenges autistic children face and emphasized the importance of recognizing and addressing their specific needs. Key topics included:

  • Tailored Communication Techniques: Strategies for clear and compassionate interactions.
  • Sensory Considerations: Understanding sensory sensitivities to create a welcoming environment.
  • Structured Routines: Tools for enhancing learning and providing a sense of security.

Attendees engaged in dynamic discussions, sharing personal experiences and practical ideas that enriched the learning process for everyone involved. Feedback highlighted the actionable nature of the strategies presented, with many participants expressing gratitude for the practical resources and insights provided.

This webinar was more than a training—it was a step toward building a culture of acceptance and understanding within our church community. By equipping volunteers and teachers with these tools, we aim to ensure that every child, regardless of ability, feels valued, included, and supported in our Sunday school programs.

We are grateful to everyone who participated and contributed to this meaningful initiative. Together, we are making a difference in creating an environment where all children can thrive.

Stay tuned for future training opportunities as we continue our mission to foster inclusivity and care in all that we do.
