On 23rd November, the GUBA Foundation hosted an autism awareness workshop at the London Ghana SDA Church, Newham, London.
Dr. Melody Smith, a Chartered Clinical Psychologist delivered an insightful session on the topic, ‘Exploring Neurodivergence: Diagnosis and Existing Support for Children and Parents.’
As part of the session, participants were treated to a vibrant therapeutic African Drumming session led by Brightstars Autistic Club. This highlighted the sense of community and showcased the power of culture in supporting neurodiverse individuals.
The interactive session was an avenue to raise awareness and destigmatise autism within ethnic minority communities as part of our flagship program, ‘Autism I am Not a Stigma’.
A huge thank you to the church leadership and the entire membership at the London Ghana SDA Church for their warm reception and participation. Together, we can destigmatise autism and celebrate diversity within our communities.
