Building Awareness & Inclusivity at St Catherine’s Catholic School, Bexley Fundraising Fair

On the 10th November, the GUBA Foundation was at St Catherine’s Catholic School in BexleyHeath for their Craft Fair event. The fundraising fair which was held between 10 am and 4pm was an extended opportunity for us to engage with the wider community on our ‘Autism I am Not a Stigma’ project. We had a support desk with resources and also interacted with and educated the public on the inspiration behind our project, the progress, our upcoming events and how they can be part of raising awareness about autism within their communities.

We had one to one conversations with parents, carers, teachers and autistic individuals who were keen on some of the books and learning resources we had on display – we made some sales and were also able to encourage parents and teachers to consider some of these learning resources for their wards and students to ensure that they are fully supported in their learning and development.

We are delighted to continually use platforms like this to raise awareness about autism and how we can collectively fight the stigma attached to it towards a more inclusive society.

We would like to thank St Catherine’s Catholic School for the platform and as we continue to raise awareness, we are looking forward to more of these platforms towards informing, educating and empowering communities.
